Rebuilding Ceefax using Codex.
The project started as a Friday afternoon experiment inspired by classic BBC football teletext. I designed the interface in Figma using archived screens as reference, then used Codex to generate the full front end from the designs.
The goal was not to create a perfect recreation, but to capture the feeling of old-school football information systems through a modern browser experience.
The project used
Old-school football pages, rebuilt for the browser.
Retro Ceefax layouts and navigation
ModeSeven bitmap typography
Classic Ceefax colour palettes
Live BBC football RSS feeds
Live football data from Sportmonks
Tailwind and lightweight static site architecture
GitHub and Netlify deployment
Screens
News, fixtures, results and navigation.
The site includes fully functional football news, fixtures, results and league tables, alongside a live clock and auto-refreshing content to recreate the feeling of an always-on sports terminal.

Tables
The table gets its own channel.
Table views were given more space and hierarchy so league data could feel immediate, graphic and properly rooted in the Ceefax world.

Live site
A live terminal with a few hidden tricks.
Tim Potter later expanded the project by connecting additional live API functionality and adding hidden easter eggs throughout the experience. Pressing the C key enables a CRT display effect, while typing page numbers reveals a retro pixel-style remote control for navigating between screens.
The project was mostly just a fun way to combine retro interface design, football and AI-assisted prototyping.
